Circuit du Mont Bessay
Sports activities
Juliénas Parking de la Rabelette
Start an 11 km circuit with beautiful buildings and views of the Saône plain, the Alps and the famous Roche de Solutré.
Departure point: Parking de la Rabelette - Pass in front of the church and the Cellier de la Vielle Église - Leave the "Barvaux - Assmannshausen" area on your right in the direction of Les Gonnards. Juliénas boasts numerous chapels and châteaux, including the "Château de Juliénas" built in the 13th and 16th centuries and part of the Vallée de la Gastronomie activities.
In the 17th century, Juliénas belonged to the chapter of St Vincent les Macon, which levied the tithe: the "Maison de la Dîme" (private) remains, with a crest dated 1592. The "Château du Bois de la Salle" was built in the former priory of the same name, and in 1960 became the headquarters of the wine cooperative.
At the heart of the village is the former church, abandoned due to its cramped conditions, sold and converted into a winery. The choir houses the "Cellier de la Vieille Église" tasting cellar.
