Beaune Porte Marie de Bourgogne
The Musée des Beaux-Arts in Beaune is devoting a new exhibition entitled "Destins croisés, 300 ans de génie Beaunois" (Crossed destinies, 300 years of Beaune genius), which highlights more than twenty great historical figures who have contributed to the development and influence of the capital of Burgundy wines.

Through a thematic tour, the exhibition highlights the singular itineraries of more than twenty great historical figures linked to Beaune. Artists, actors, musicians, inventors, agronomists, politicians and historians from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries are evoked through a hundred or so objects from Beaune's municipal collections and private collections, including the Fallot mustard factory.

In addition to the famous names, the exhibition allows visitors to discover or rediscover the legacy of Beaulieu personalities who left their mark on their time through their commitment, talent or innovations. Mathematician Gaspard Monge, physiologist Etienne Jules Marey, painter Félix Ziem and actress Marie Favart are just some of the key figures.

This retrospective, which is by no means exhaustive, honours some of those who have contributed to the development and influence of Beaune. Paintings, sculptures, models, archive documents and video clips are brought together to illustrate the life and work of men and women from a wide variety of backgrounds, some famous, some little-known, whose legacy has enriched our shared heritage.
"Destins croisés" is also an opportunity for Beaune to pay tribute to the Beaune philosopher, sociologist and anthropologist Bruno Latour, who died in 2022, and whose abundant archives recently joined the municipal collections.
